About the Magellan Foundation

Established in 1992, the Magellan Foundation seeks to link those who know what is necessary to enhance and support leadership in education with the resources to make it possible. The Foundation grew out of a need recognized by the School Administrators Association of New York State to facilitate such growth of the profession in New York.

Magellan’s classification as a 501C3 not-for-profit public foundation provides it the opportunity to create innovative and collaborative opportunities for the betterment of New York’s schools. The foundation often works together with other public and private foundations and organizations and seeks support from many sources, including state and federal grants and philanthropic efforts. This allows the foundation to offer a wide variety of professional development and support to the school administrators throughout the state.
