There is a high demand and need for mental health literacy training. \nThis certification is beneficial to school leaders. SUMMARY:SAANYS Spotlight: Effectiveness\, Satisfaction\, and Retention:
DESCRIPTION:The Impact of Learning Environment Design on Educators \nThe Simulation: \nSo much of our focus in learning space design tends to prioritize the learner. Often students are at the center of decisions made about new buildings\, renovated spaces\, and how to use existing furniture and other resources effectively. But while having these conversations\, we can’t forget about another key element of learning space design: how it affects educators. \nTeachers are our most important resource in schools\, but they can grow inefficient and ineffective without the right tools. In addition to school climate measures\, professional development\, and holistic health support\, educators need access to spaces that support their performance and enhance modern learning. \nTakeaways: \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Robert Dillon will discuss how designing for educators can help support learners.\n \nJoin us to learn more about: \n• The impacts of your learning spaces on both educators and learners \n • Creating a plan to provide teachers with the best possible surroundings to showcase their craft \n • How environment can improve job satisfaction and teacher retention in your school \nFREE – OPEN TO ALL EDUCATORS \nREGISTER ONLINE \nDownload a flyer here.

SUMMARY:Equity in Action Series: Focused Coaching for Your District DEI Work
DESCRIPTION:FOUR VIRTUAL 3 HOUR SESSIONS: AUGUST 3 | OCTOBER 17 | NOVEMBER 15 | JANUARY 18\n9:00 AM-12:00 PM \nRegistration is now closed. \nAddressing diversity and equity issues is one of the most pressing challenges facing our schools today\, and the shift from talk to action has definitely occurred. Districts like yours all over the state are focusing diversity\, equity\, and inclusion efforts on goals and initiatives that might look quite different district to district\, but the work is moving forward\, with lots being learned along the way. Regardless of where you are in your DEI journey or what priorities you have chosen\, individualized support and guidance can make all the difference in whether the work flourishes or flounders. Improving academic access and outcomes\, grappling with gender-based equity questions\, implementing restorative disciplinary practices\, revamping hiring practices\, or updating curriculum are only a few examples of the types of goals districts are working on. \nDownload a flyer here.

SUMMARY:CLOSED - SAANYS and NYSASCD 3-Part Virtual Summer Series
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT \nIf you are feeling that motivating staff and elevating morale is getting harder\, you are not alone. At a 2022 leadership symposium sponsored by EdWeek\, low teacher and staff morale ranked high on the list of issues school leaders cited as having the greatest impact. The first ever Merrimack Teacher Survey\, done in conjunction with EdWeek Research\, found that less than half of the respondents feel that they are respected and viewed as professionals. A quick look at social media reveals a flood of ‘unhappy teacher’ and staff videos where unsurprisingly\, much of the blame is directed toward school leaders. Many times we learn the hard way that even actions meant to boost morale can backfire. SAANYS and NYSASCD are excited to have Jen Schwanke\, EdD facilitating a three-day summer series focused on this important topic of motivating staff and improving morale. In addition to being a longtime educator who has taught and led at all levels\, including 17 years as a principal\, Jen is an author of three ASCD books\, including: The Teacher’s Principal: How School Leaders Can Support and Motivate Their Teachers; You’re the Principal\, Now What?; and 8 Ways to Revitalize Your School Leadership. She is currently a co-host of the popular podcast\, Principal Matters\, and is a deputy superintendent and an instructor in educational administration at Miami University of Ohio. This three-session virtual workshop is designed to be relevant to all school leaders: principals and assistant principals\, as well as directors\, essential service leaders\, and central office leaders. The e-book The Teacher’s Principal is included with all registrations. Registration fee includes all 3 days. \nDownload the flyer here.
